Practice Walking

Work can be stressful and days can seem long, especially during this time of the year. I am always looking for ways to keep my energy up and to focus my attention during the workday. One simple remedy I have found that works for me: taking a walk.

It sounds so simple. But sometimes, during a hectic day of work, or a slow day when my energy is low, an easy stroll outdoors is the perfect break that I need. My favorite time to take a walking break is sometime in the early afternoon, not too long after lunch. I love getting outside, getting away from the computer screen, and moving my body. Simple walks like this help me to clear my head, relax, and come back to the office refocused and re-energized.

Research continues to show that there is something to this. Small walks during the day are healthy for us and can improve our mood. They can even make us more efficient at work. So if you already practice this habit, keep it up! And if you have yet to try this, see how it goes. What have you got to lose?
